For Ranok Publishing House, our team developed a custom CRM and an automated communication system built around the company’s actual workflows. The objective was not to replicate the functionality of an existing CRM. It was to create infrastructure that connected customer data and communications in a way that made sense for the business.

Ranok is one of Ukraine’s largest publishing houses, producing millions of books every year. At that scale, internal systems have to support significant volumes of information and everyday activity without becoming an additional burden for employees.

The resulting technology became part of the company’s daily operations.

This is where custom development has a clear advantage: the business does not have to reorganize itself around the limitations of a generic product. The product is designed around the business.

Reliability matters more than a successful demo

Modern software is often evaluated at launch. For business-critical systems, we believe a much more meaningful evaluation happens several years later.

Our team developed an operational accounting system for Kernel, one of Ukraine’s largest agricultural companies. The system was used in everyday operations and worked reliably for five years without disruptions.

That longevity is important because production software operates under conditions that are difficult to reproduce during development. Data volumes increase. Employees and processes change. New requirements appear. Integrations evolve. The system is expected to continue working throughout all of it.

Reliability therefore cannot be treated as something that is added after the product has been built. It influences architecture, infrastructure, testing and even seemingly small technical decisions from the beginning.

A system that employees stop noticing because it simply works is often a very successful system.

Technology can make scale operationally possible

The same principles apply when the challenge is not longevity but rapid scale.

For a UNESCO initiative in Ukraine, IRONPAW developed a digital learning platform supporting a nationwide mental health education program. More than 7,000 psychologists were trained through the initiative.

A program of that size creates considerable operational complexity. Thousands of participants need access to the right materials and learning experience while administrators need technology capable of supporting the program consistently.

The platform provided the digital infrastructure required to deliver the initiative at scale.

This is one of the areas where software creates value beyond automation. Well-designed technology can allow an organization to reach an audience that would otherwise require significantly more resources to serve.

Adoption is part of engineering a successful product

A system can be technically excellent and still fail if people do not want to use it.

Our team’s work on iLearn demonstrated the importance of designing technology around user behavior.

iLearn was created to give Ukrainian students free access to high-quality learning and exam preparation. The platform evolved into a gamified educational experience in which learning activities were connected to progress and interactive mechanics.

The objective was not gamification for its own sake. It was to make online learning more engaging for students and encourage them to return.

Today, more than 200,000 students have used iLearn.

The same principle applies to enterprise products, consumer applications and internal systems. User experience is not simply the visual layer of a product. It influences adoption, efficiency and ultimately the return a business receives from its technology investment.

Custom software should create an advantage

Not every business needs custom development.

Established SaaS products can be excellent solutions when requirements are relatively standard and technology is not a source of competitive differentiation.

The calculation changes when software becomes central to the operation itself.

Custom development becomes particularly valuable when a business needs unique workflows, deep integrations, proprietary automation, greater control over its data or the ability to scale without being constrained by a third-party product.
